What vehicles use AdBlue pumps?

2026-06-12

AdBlue pumps are used in ‌diesel vehicles equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) exhaust aftertreatment technology‌. Specifically, the main types of vehicles are as follows:

1. Commercial heavy-duty vehicles

This is the most common application scenario for AdBlue pumps, including:

  • Heavy trucks and tractor units‌: To meet strict emission standards for heavy-duty diesel vehicles, almost all modern heavy trucks are equipped with SCR systems that require AdBlue pumps for precise dosing of AdBlue solution.
  • Construction vehicles‌: Such as excavators, loaders and other heavy diesel engineering equipment, especially for high-load heavy-duty applications, advanced AdBlue pumps are required to adapt to harsh working conditions.
  • Mining and agricultural off-road vehicles‌: Extreme working environments require high-pressure, high-performance AdBlue pumps to ensure stable emissions processing.
  • Urban delivery light commercial vehicles‌: Routine maintenance of low-to-moderate intensity use also requires matching AdBlue pump systems.

2. Passenger diesel vehicles

Most ‌new diesel passenger vehicles that meet Euro 6, China VI and above emission standards‌ are equipped with SCR systems, which also use AdBlue pumps. For example, some European brand diesel cars and diesel vans (such as Volkswagen Crafter and other models) have AdBlue systems with pumps installed.

Note:

Only ‌active AdBlue dosing systems‌ use AdBlue pumps. Older diesel models or low emission requirement vehicles that adopt passive dosing do not need to be equipped with AdBlue pumps, because they rely on natural pressure difference to transport AdBlue.
